Grace Riaz, M.A., Founder
In the year 2000, Grace created Learning Independence. As the founding Executive Director, Grace was responsible for the development of the L.I. program. Learning Independence began as a small Independent Living Skills Program and today, L.I. employs and trains qualified staff members to serve our diverse consumers each year.
Grace's natural devoted caring style is her trademark in her work at Learning Independence. This core culture has become the philosophy that has led Learning Independence to become a role model for other agencies serving individuals with developmental disabilities.
As the Executive Director, Grace has been responsible for leading Learning Independence in the development of more L.I. programs. With Grace's philosophy of providing comprehensive services to L.I. clients, the following programs are now a part of Learning Independence services; Personal Assistance Support (PAS), Independent Living Skills (ILS) and Supported Living Services (SLS) and Community Activities Support Services (CASS).
Throughout her career, Grace continues to be actively involved in all aspects of Learning Independence organization.
Grace says, “I am proud of what Learning Independence represents to the community today and it's growth to make it possible for our staff members to be employed, and to provide professional service and support to the clients we serve. I am especially proud to have also made a difference in the lives of our clients and their families over the past 25 years.”
